Recorded with singer songwriter Peter de Jong. Song about the homeless and remember it could happen to us all.
Hard to translate but........
I can see you're walking with bags ful of paper. Pictures of the past In your hands a large can of beer. You're talkin' to yourself , only God knows about what. You're shoes are warned out, And I feel your heart is hurtin'
You pay attention to no one and no one on you Kept prisoned in a world where you may die from cold Maybe you're thinkin' of the children of your first wife and you might still hear the words; We all love you
Hey, where are you going to is there any place left at all
A job, a house, a car, you've had it all Friends for a lifetime Women wanted to have you so bad Everything's changed, it's all left far behind Fighting to survive It don't bring you joyful days
I can see you from the window of the bar where you used to go And I wanna call you in But the bartender says; NO.....!!! Back to the barstool, I just order one more drink Inside, I feel ashamed, Don't look around anymore.
Recorded by Peter de Jong (singer-songwriter, troubadour) solo guitar, background vocals, bass. Thanks a lot Peter for helping me out. www.troubadourpeter.nl www.jacquesmees.nl
AVENUE ( lyrics Ko de Laat - music Jacques Mees - arr. Frederik Felix )
One thing that I learned by listening to Townes's music, is that you need to rest into music. Don't get too fast. He's one of the greatest songwriters ever. Still listen to him almost every day.

WE USED TO START AS A DUO IN THE LATE EIGHTIES AND TOURED ALL OVER EUROPE FOR NINE YEARS, Good ' ol Times. We did covers from Mark Knophler, Chris Rea, Tom Petty and lots more.
I was adding Bert Vervoorn as a friend on Hyves, so he checked me out. He heard me playing and singing a John Prine song. He got interested and after some mailcontacts, he asked me if I would like to do a project together. The plan was that he should write songs and we record them later. Very soon after he send me his first song with the title; Another Tuesdaynight. I was schocked and got cold sweat all over my body. It was like I could have written those lyrics,ha ha, if I didn't have this writer's block. Amazing how he got into my skin. To make a long story short, after six contacts in three months and 17 songs later, recorded on his laptop with his magical tools and experience, we're planning to make an album.
